Scopa is a traditional Italian card game known for its simplicity and strategy. Played with a 40-card Italian deck made up of Swords, Cups, Coins, and Batons (or a standard deck with 8s, 9s, and 10s removed), it is a trick-taking game for 2-4 players. The word “Scopa” means “broom” in Italian, referring to the goal of “sweeping” all the cards on the table.
Scoring: At the end of the round, players score points based on:
•Scopa: Capturing all cards on the table in one play (1 point per Scopa).
•Most Cards: Having the most captured cards (1 point).
•Settebello: Capturing the 7 of coins (1 point).
•Premiere: Having the best collection of high-value cards in each suit (1 point).
•Coins Suit: Capturing the most cards from the coins suit (1 point).
To play with a standard playing deck, the Swords are Spades, Cups are Hearts, Coins are Diamonds, and Batons are Clubs.
